We are Vocal Quintet 5T, consisting of Peggy, Ilse, Marike, Hans and Vico. Our singing is quite varied: vocal jazz, close harmony, a cappella pop and rock, anything we like, in fact, as long as it's a cappella. We strive for a repertoire that is as unique as possible, with lots of our own arrangements and adaptations of existing arrangements, quite often made by Vico and Hans. An attractive visual presentation is a natural ingredient for 5T, but the music comes first.
Musically, our quintet has grown quite rapidly, and is now a well adjusted ensemble. This is also apparent from the judging of our singing at festivals that we've taken part in. We reached the tenth place at the Dutch Festival for Vocal Ensembles at ‘s-Heerenberg, March 2006, the second place at the “Totaal Vokaal Zuid” festival, November 2006, and now (totally unexpected for us) a first place at the Dutch Festival for Vocal Ensembles at Almelo, March 2007. The judges praised the special “chemistry” between the group members, which adds something extra to our vocal performance, which we highly appreciate.
5T was founded in December 2004, when the members met by chance at an a cappella festival, and the group has been singing almost in its original composition since then, apart from the arrival of Marike in September 2006. We have weekly rehearsals in Vught (near ‘s-Hertogenbosch), without a musical leader.
About the name: from when we first started rehearsing, all five of us have been drinking only tea at rehearsals, and after weeks of looking (in vain) for a suitable name, we suddenly realised that it was (literally) right in front of us...
